Ṣadr al-Dīn Abū'l-Ḥasan b. Nayyar. He was the shaykh al-shuyūkh (chief of the shaykhs) in Baghdad. He served as the tutor of Caliph al-Muṣṭaṣim. When al-Muṣṭaṣim ascended to the caliphate, he kept him in high positions and showed him respect. Alī b. Muḥammad was esteemed in his presence and took control of the reins of administration. However, later he was slaughtered like a sheep in the caliphal palace by the Tatars.
