Amr b. Suraqa b. Mu'tamir al-ʿAdawī

He is the brother of ʿAbdullāh b. Suraqa. He was among those who participated in the great Battle of Badr. According to reports, on one occasion, when he became hungry, he tied a stone to his stomach due to the severity of his hunger and walked in that state until evening. In the evening, a tribe from among the Arabs invited him and his companions to a meal. When he was satiated, he said to his companions: "I used to think that the two legs carried what was in the belly. But I have seen that, in fact, the belly carries the two legs."
