Delegation of the Banu Murra Tribe

According to the account of al-Wāqidī, this delegation came to Medina in the ninth year of the Hijra, upon the return of the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) from Tabuk. It consisted of thirteen people, among whom was Ḥāris b. ʿAwf. The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) gave them ten uqiyyas of silver. They explained that their homeland was afflicted by drought. Thereupon, the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated for them, saying: "O Allah, send rain upon them." When they returned to their land, they saw that rain had fallen on the very day the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) had supplicated for them.
