Al-Wāqidī relates, through the chain of transmission from Mūsā b. Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm, that a man from the Banu Sa'leba tribe narrated from his father as follows:
"When the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from Jiʿrāna in the eighth year of the Hijra, we, four men, came to him and said:
- We are the envoys of our people whom we have left behind. They are accepting Islam, we said.
He then ordered that we be hosted. We stayed in Medina for a few days. When we came to bid farewell, he said to Bilāl:
- Give them gifts as you give to other delegations. Bilāl then brought a large, wide cauldron of silver. He gave each of us five uqiyyas of silver and said:
- We have no dirhams with us. We then returned to our land."
