"I see Him with all the attributes of beauty.
I do not believe in the hulūl (incarnation) doctrine that distances Him.
In the beautifully walking and charging camels.
In all the swords sheathed in their scabbards that shine brightly.
In all the full moons that sparkle in the nights.
Whose moonlight is soft and on the swaying tree branches.
In the slender forms every time I embrace them.
In the wetness on their lips resembling cold wine that I have sucked. In pearls, rubies, essences, and fragrances.
Those adornments that all beautiful eyes rest upon.
My eyes sparkle in the ornaments of the garments.
In my gaze upon their rose-like gold mines.
In the scent of wine and basil, in songs and ballads.
In the chants and the calls of birds.
In the gardens beneath the sky that emit beautiful fragrances.
The sun's rays laugh and smile at the sparkle of dew and frost. While narrating in the clarity of the nightingale's cheerful voice.
When the wind curls its feathers.
In joy, amusement, and distraction.
All these lead the members of sects to their goals. Alongside various ripe fruits in every beautiful assembly.
In the spreading scent of wine.
In the gathering of people every Friday and festival.
Renewed
garments
on them
in their display
In the shining of the Meşrefî swords on the battlefields.
In the bending of bayonet tips from blows.
In the noble horses that sharpen and become fierce.
In their competition with each other as messengers of the wind.
In the illumination of the sun on the tower at the horizon.
In the eastern horizon where the sun resembles a golden mirror.
When it becomes fully round, when I see the full moon on the horizon.
I see Him as a crystal palace illuminating the sky.
In the stars adorning the darkness of the night.
Which resemble the scattering of pearls on a showcase of zircon.
In the rain that moistens the drying earth.
When the forerunners of dew are accused of wetting the drying land.
When weakness appears in the lights coming from the clouds.
They are like shining front teeth or naked swords.
In the beauty of the address and the quickness of the response.
Delicate, even like the elegance in beautiful handwriting.
In the subtlety of poetry, these artistic excellences shone for the listener.
Some reached the target, some did not.
In reaching the festival of union after hardship.
In the finding of security by the lonely ones driven away and scattered.
In the beloved's cruelty, there is the lover's complaint.
In the delicacy of the words at the moment of expressing love.
In the love of the generous one who bestows dew and frost abundantly.
In the feelings of every master’s forgiveness and compassion.
In the humility and friendship of the gnostics (ʿārifīn).
In the movements at the bound sky (muqayyad samāʾ).
In the delicacy of the verses of the Book within Him.
After threat, the breeze of the spirit of promise blows.
Thus the attributes of majesty manifest.
I also observe this without hesitation.
In the fullness and form of the majestic woman.
In the fullness of the beautiful and sovereign ruler who is overpowering. In the wrath of the angry sultan when he seizes with his power. In the tolerance of the majestic and noble master leader. In the emergence of the resident who offers the cup of wine. In the evil of the immoral who causes disorder at the wine table. In heat and cold, which are things that share Time. In the torment given by every envier. In the secret of the evil that afflicts the souls. In the beauty of the aggressor’s aggression. In the distress of customs, one senses destiny. When the sun’s eye is kohl-lined with a kohl-stone. In the clashes of horses with each other on every battlefield. In the stumbling of horses because of straight bayonets. In the power and intensity of the attacking lion. In the hardship of life made difficult by illnesses. In the beloved’s cruelty after union. In the failure to keep one’s word after a firm promise. In the terror of a broken relationship, in the warmth of the sorrowful side, and in the distress of the farewell position.
After the coming together of those who have warmed to each other, in their partings. In dispersals after regrouping. In homes deprived of friends after finding intimacy with friends.
In the collapse and ruin of the columns of high and prosperous palaces.
In the terror of sea waves.
In the desolation of deserts.
In the channels that pour foaming waters.
At the moment I fulfill all obligations.
In the state of surrender to the secret of worship.
Supplications: 1. When directed to the honor of the One to whom they are addressed.
In my display of humility in prayer.
When rising from sleep at night for tahajjud (night vigil prayer).
When pilgrims wear ihrām and pronounce talbiyah.
In their work on flat lands to secure their livelihood.
In the difficulty of earning lawful (ḥalāl) income.
In the fatigue phase of the worshiping heart.
In the memory of torment and the darkness of veiling.
In the constipation of the ascetic and worshiper.
He appears with perfect attributes.
Because of seeing Him, I can no longer see anything ugly or bad.
Everyone who does evil to me is like one who does good. Everyone who misguides me is like a murshid (spiritual guide) for me. There is no distinction for me between solitude and crowd.
I will not distinguish between light and darkness, closeness and distance.
My fasting and non-fasting, my zeal and laxity, my sleeping and rising for tahajjud are all the same for me. Sometimes in the tavern, sometimes in the mosque’s archway, the drinker truly discovers my secret. My time is mixed with discovering eternity.
Homelands rejoiced with me. Their images were realized by my eye and observation.
My qalb (heart) encompasses all things. I drink water from every source.
Idol statues, the priest’s church, the fire altar of the Magian, were once my temple.
Places where gazelles roam, coffee corners and taverns,
Flower gardens and the horizon where the star Esad rises,
Secrets of maʿrifa, keys of wisdom,
Breaths of ecstasy, blessings in the light of dawn,
The darkness of the bewildered, the light of the guided,
All opposites met within me.
Because of 1,000 hardships that exhausted me and the grace of the generous one who bestows,
I arranged the ranks of stations outwardly and did so inwardly as well.
I drink from the source of solitude alone,
In every homeland I have a resting place.
I stand there on one foot that gives due right to solitude.
Even if all creatures perish, I
Hold onto a single thread from Muhammad’s cords.
May Allah’s salāt (blessings) be upon him. I constantly hope for his intercession for us.
I offer my continuous greetings and congratulations to him spiritually."
