Abū ʿAbdillāh Muḥammad b. ʿAlī b. Muḥammad b. Jārūd al-Marānī. He was a Shāfiʿī faqīh (jurist). He was among the virtuous people. He was appointed as the qāḍī (judge) of ʿIrbīl. He was a refined and witty person. He was one of the beauties of his time. He has highly elevated poetry containing subtle meanings. One of his poems is as follows:
“Old age has come, youth has departed. He placed his grace where it settled.. You have many sins, be careful, turn back. Now death is near.
Do not act defectively towards the religion of your Lord. Do not let long hope deceive you.”
