Abū Isḥāq Ibrāhīm b. Muzaffar Ibrāhīm b. ʿAlī. He is known by the name Ibn al-Bazzī. He is from Baghdad. He was a preacher. He acquired his knowledge from his shaykh Abū'l-Faraj Ibn Jawzī. He listened to many ḥadīths. He has the following poem concerning zuhd (asceticism):
“This world is not a realm of joy.
Its traps and deceits frighten me.
For a while, the young man rejoices in his own existence, trusting in his wealth.
For some time, he benefits from and lives off his wealth.
Then he drinks the cup of death.
He takes a cup of milk offered by the appointed time of death.
On the day to come, he will be left alone with his deeds.
He will no longer have the strength to defend himself against his sins.
If he could, he would call out from beneath the earth as follows:
“Let a person do good deeds as much as he can!”
