Abū'l-ʿAbbās b. Qāḍī Aḥmad

Abū'l-ʿAbbās b. Qāḍī Aḥmad b. Abī Aḥmad al-Ṭabarī. A Shāfiʿī faqīh (jurist) and sayyid. He was a student of Ibn Suraij. The works "al-Talkhīṣ" and "Kitāb al-Miftāḥ" belong to him. This is an abridged work which was commented upon by Abū ʿAbdillāh al-Ḥusaynī. Abū ʿAbdillāh al-Sanjī also wrote a commentary on this work. His father used to convey news and explain works to people. He himself served as the qāḍī (judge) of Tarsus. He used to give advice to people. On one occasion, he was overcome by khushūʿa (reverent awe) and fainted to the ground. He died in that year.
