Abū Muḥammad ʿAbdallāh b. Abī al-Wahsh

Abū Muḥammad ʿAbdallāh b. Abī al-Wahsh Būrī b. ʿAbduljabbar b. Būrī al-Maqdisī. Originally from Jerusalem. Later he came to Egypt and settled there. In his time, he was one of the scholars of lughāt (lexicography) and nahw (grammar). After Ibn Bapshat, treatises were presented to him. He possessed extensive knowledge in this field. He refrained from using ambiguous expressions in his speeches and writings. When addressing people, he did not distort words nor complicate their iʿrāb (grammatical inflection). He has beneficial works. He died at the age of eighty-three in this year. May Almighty Allah have mercy on him. The Most High Allah, free from deficiencies, knows best the truth.
