In the sixty-eighth year of the Hijra, Abū Shurayḥ al-Huzāʿī al-ʿAdawī al-Kaṭaʿī passed away. There is disagreement regarding the actual name of this individual. According to the correct opinion, his real name is Huwaylid b. ʿAmr. He became Muslim in the year of the conquest of Mecca. He was carrying one of the three banners of the Banū Kaʿb tribe.
Muḥammad b. Saʿd stated that this individual died in the sixty-eighth year of the Hijra and also reported that he transmitted hadiths.
