Emir Seyfeddin Balaban

Seyfeddin Balaban Turfa b. ʿAbdullāh al-Nāṣirī. He was one of the leading figures of Dimashq. Many events that would take a long time to narrate here happened in his life. This year, on the night of Wednesday, the twenty-first of Rabīʿ al-Awwal, he passed away in his house next to the Fīrūz minaret. He was buried in the tomb he had built beside his own house. During his lifetime, he had appointed two reciters there to receive salaries from the endowment, and he also had a masjid constructed next to his tomb, where he appointed an imām and a muezzin.
