Faḍl b. ʿAbbās b. ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib

He was a handsome man of fine stature and appearance. During the Farewell Pilgrimage, on the first day of the Festival of Sacrifice, the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) seated him behind himself on his mount. At that time, he was a young and handsome man. He was present at the conquest of Syria. He was martyred due to the plague of ʿAmwās. Muḥammad b. Saʿd, Zubayr b. Bakkār, Abū Ḥātim, and Ibn Rukī hold this view, which is the correct one. There are also those who say he was martyred in the Battle of Marj al-Sufr. Some have stated that he died at Yarmūk in the twenty-eighth year of the Hijra.
