The Exalted Allah said:
"It is Allah who raised the heavens without pillars that you see, then established Himself above the Throne, and subjected the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term. He arranges [each] matter; He details the signs that you may, of the meeting with your Lord, be certain in faith.
And it is He who spread the earth and placed therein firmly set mountains and rivers; and from all of the fruits He made therein two mates; He causes the night to cover the day. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.
And within the land are neighboring plots and gardens of grapevines and crops and palm trees, [growing] several from a root or otherwise, watered with one water; but We make some of them exceed others in [quality of] fruit. Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason." (al-Raʿd 13:2-4)
"Is He [not best] who created the heavens and the earth and sent down for you water from the sky, causing to grow thereby gardens full of beauty, which you could not [otherwise] have grown the trees thereof? Is there a deity with Allah? But they are a people who ascribe equals [to Him].
Is He [not best] who made the earth a stable ground and placed within it rivers and made for it firmly set mountains and placed between the two seas a barrier? Is there a deity with Allah? But most of them do not know." (al-Naml 27:60-61)
"It is He who sends down water from the sky; from it is drink and from it is foliage in which you pasture [animals]. He causes to grow for you thereby the crops, olives, palm trees, grapevines, and from all the fruits. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.
And He has subjected for you the night and day and the sun and moon, and the stars are subjected by His command. Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason." (al-Naḥl 16:10-12)
In these noble verses, Allah the Exalted mentions the mountains, trees, fruits, plains, rugged places, and the various classes of animate and inanimate creatures, the arid deserts, landmasses, and seas that He has created on earth. All of these indicate His majesty, power, wisdom, and mercy. He is compassionate and merciful to His creatures, and He is a wise and omnipotent being over them. In these noble verses, our Exalted Lord has also explained how He facilitates the sustenance that His creatures need, day and night, summer and winter, morning and evening. As He says in another noble verse:
"And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision."
"And He knows its place of dwelling and place of storage. All is in a clear register." (Hūd 11:6)
Ḥāfiẓ Abū Yaʿlā narrated from ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Allah the Exalted created a thousand communities. Of these, six hundred were created in the sea and four hundred on land. The first of these communities to be destroyed will be the locust community. When one of them is destroyed, the others will follow one after another, dispersing like beads from a broken string."
One of the transmitters of this hadith is ʿUbayd b. Wāqid. His narration is not relied upon. His teacher is even weaker than him. Fallaḥ and al-Bukhārī stated that the hadiths he transmits are rejected (munkar), Abū Zurʿa said it is not appropriate to transmit hadith from him, Ibn Ḥibbān and al-Dāraquṭnī considered him among the weak transmitters, and Ibn ʿAdī said that this hadith and his other narrations are rejected (munkar). Allah knows best.
The Exalted Allah said: "And there is no creature on [or within] the earth or bird that flies with its wings except [that they are] communities like you. We have not neglected in the Register a thing. Then unto their Lord they will be gathered." (al-Anʿām 6:38)
