After stoning the Jamra of Aqaba, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put on his garment and applied perfume. He slaughtered his sacrificial animal. He applied perfume and slaughtered his sacrifice before performing the circumambulation (ṭawāf) of the House (Kaʿba). The Mother of the Believers, ʿĀʾisha, had perfumed him.

Al-Bukhārī, through ʿAlī b. ʿAbd Allāh al-Madīnī, narrated that ʿĀʾisha said:

"When he entered into iḥrām (state of ritual consecration), I perfumed the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) with these two hands of mine. When he exited iḥrām, before performing ṭawāf, I also applied perfume to him. When ʿĀʾisha said 'with these two hands,' she opened and showed her hands."

Muslim narrated that ʿĀʾisha said:

"Before he entered iḥrām, I perfumed the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him). On the first day of the Feast of Sacrifice (ʿĪd al-Aḍḥā), before he performed ṭawāf of the House, I applied a perfume containing musk to him."

Al-Nasāʾī narrated that ʿĀʾisha said:

"At the time of entering iḥrām, I perfumed the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him). After stoning the Jamra of Aqaba and before performing ṭawāf of the House, at the time of exiting iḥrām, I also applied perfume to him."

Al-Shāfiʿī, through Sufyān b. ʿUyayna, narrated that ʿĀʾisha said:

"At the time of entering and exiting iḥrām, I applied perfume to the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him)."

In the Ṣaḥīḥs of al-Bukhārī and Muslim, through Ibn Jurayj, it is narrated that ʿĀʾisha said: "During the Farewell Pilgrimage, at the time of entering and exiting iḥrām, I perfumed the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) with my own hand using kuhl (antimony)."

Sufyān al-Thawrī narrated that Ibn ʿAbbās said:

"When you have stoned the Jamra, everything that was forbidden to you in iḥrām becomes permissible, except women. After you perform ṭawāf of the House, women also become permissible for you."

A man said:

– O Ibn ʿAbbās, what about perfume?

– I saw the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) apply musk to his head. Is this not perfume?"

Muḥammad b. Isḥāq narrated that Umm Salama said:

"The night when the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) went around to his wives was the night of the Feast of Sacrifice. That night he was with me. Wahb b. Zamʿa and a man from the family of Abū Umayya came to the Messenger of God wearing shirts. The Messenger of God asked them:

– Did you go from Minā to Mecca? They replied:

– No. The Messenger of God said:

– Then take off your shirts. So they took off their shirts. Wahb said:

– But why, O Messenger of God? The Messenger of God replied:

– This is a day when, after you have stoned the Jamra, and if you have slaughtered your sacrifice, everything that was forbidden to you in iḥrām becomes permissible, except women. They become permissible for you after you perform ṭawāf of the House. If you have stoned the Jamra but have not gone from Minā to Mecca, you remain in the state of iḥrām as before. This remains until you perform ṭawāf of the House."

According to al-Bayhaqī's narration, Umm Qays bint Miḥṣan added the following to the above narration:

"ʿUkkāsha b. Miḥṣan, along with several men from the Banū Asad tribe, left me on the evening of the first day of the Feast of Sacrifice, wearing their shirts. Later that evening, they returned to us carrying their shirts in their hands. When I asked them why they had done this, they told me what the Messenger of God had said to Wahb b. Zamʿa and his companion."

This is indeed a strange (gharīb) ḥadīth. I do not know of any scholar who has said this.
