Hāfiẓ Abū ʿAlī b. ʿAlī b. Yazīd b. Dāwūd al-Nīsāburī. He was among the reliable ḥadīth hāfiẓs (memorizers) and ḥadīth scholars who produced excellent works.
Dāraquṭnī said: "He was a ḥadīth imām (leader) of a particular madhhab (school)."
Ibn ʿUkda did not show humility to anyone else as much as he did to him. Hāfiẓ Abū ʿAlī passed away at the age of fifty-two in the month of Jamāzī al-Ākhir of this year.
