Abū al-Makārim al-Mufaḍḍal b. Abī al-Ḥasan ʿAlī b. Abī al-Ghayth Mufarrij b. Ḥātim b. Ḥasan b. Jāʿfar b. Ibrāhīm b. Ḥasan al-Laḥmī al-Maqdisī. Originally from Jerusalem, he later settled in Alexandria. He belonged to the Mālikī madhhab. He studied under al-Salafī and ʿAbd al-Raḥīm al-Munzirī. He collected ḥadīth from them. He was the instructor of the Mālikīs in Alexandria. There he also served as a qāḍī (judge). One of his poems is as follows: "O nafs (the lower self)! Cling to the words transmitted from the best of the Prophets, their ṣaḥāba (Companions), and the tābiʿīn (Followers)."

On the Day of Reckoning, when the flames of the Hellfire rise, fear that those flames may reach you and burn you." According to Ibn Ḥallīkān, Hāfiẓ Abū al-Ḥasan passed away this year in Cairo.
