Hakīm Bahāʾ al-Dīn

Bahāʾ al-Dīn, a virtuous and highly learned scholar, has the following lineage: Bahāʾ al-Dīn ʿAbd al-Sayyid ibn Muḥezzib Isḥāq ibn Yaḥyā. He was a physician who treated eyes with kohl. He was honored with Islām. Afterwards, he had read the entire Qurʾān because he had seen with the eye of the qalb (heart) and believed, thus becoming a Muslim. Through him, many people from his own tribe and others also entered Islām. He was of great benefit and blessing both to himself and to those people. Previously, he had been Jewish. May the Exalted Allah have granted him hudā (guidance). He passed away on the sixth of Jumādā al-Ākhirah, on a Sunday, in this year. On the same day, he was buried in the Qasyūn Cemetery. Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyya explained to him that Judaism was false, that their ways were not correct, and that they altered their scriptures and changed the positions of words, and he proved this, which led to his conversion to Islam. May Allah have mercy upon him.
