In this year, Malik Ashraf b. ʿĀdil had the Zincarî khān in ʿAkabiyya demolished. Various sins were committed in this khān, including drinking alcohol and engaging in immoral acts. He had it torn down. In its place, he had the Jāmiʿ al-Tawba (Mosque of Repentance) constructed. May Allah accept this good deed from him.
In this year, Qāḍī Bahāʾ al-Dīn Yūsuf b. Rafī b. Tamīm b. Shaddād al-Ḥalabī passed away. This person was among the leaders of Ḥalab, coming from a family possessing knowledge and leadership. He was knowledgeable about history, the wars of people, and other matters. He had heard and transmitted many ḥadīths.
In this year, Shaykh Shihāb al-Dīn ʿAbd al-Salām b. Muṭahhar b. ʿAbdallāh b. Muḥammad b. ʿAsrūn al-Ḥalabī also passed away. He was a jurist (faqīh), ascetic (zāhid), and devout worshipper (ʿābid). He had about twenty concubines. He was an old man who engaged in many sexual relations. He suffered from various illnesses. These illnesses caused his demise. He died in Dimashq and was buried in the cemetery at the foot of Mount Qāsyūn. He was the father of Qutb al-Dīn and Ṭāj al-Dīn.
In this year, the Shaykh, Imam, and scholar Sāyn al-Dīn Abū Muḥammad ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz al-Jilī al-Shāfiʿī also passed away. This person was among the jurists engaged in knowledge and issuing fatwās at the Nizāmiyya madrasa of Baghdad. He wrote a commentary on Shaykh Abū Isḥāq's work al-Tanbīh. He died in the month of Rabīʿ al-Awwal. May Almighty Allah have mercy on him.
In this year, the Shaykh, Imam, scholar, orator, and writer Abū Muḥammad Aḥmad b. Ḥāmid b. Maḥmūd b. Ḥāmid b. Abī al-Ḥasan b. Abī al-Faraǧ b. Miftāḥ al-Tamīmī al-Dīnawarī also passed away. He was the preacher and muftī of Dinawar. He was a Shāfiʿī faqīh. He studied jurisprudence at the Nizāmiyya madrasa in Baghdad. Then he returned to his homeland Dinawar. He authored various books. Ibn Saʿī transmitted the following poem of his:
“The affairs of love narrated to me my love,
Through all its chains, from unique paths, from the tree of knowledge they transmitted.
The breeze of the Nesim wind brought to me from the valley of Dawḥ, from the valley of food, from the hills of Najd the fires;
My love and sorrow will always be together.
Until I lay my head in the grave, my love and sorrow will not be separated.”
In the work az-Zayl, Abū Shāma states that the author of the work Awārif al-Maʿārif, Shaykh al-Suhrawardī, died in this year. He was born in the year 539 AH and was over ninety years old at his death. As for Sibt, he says, as mentioned in the previous section, that Shaykh Shihāb al-Suhrawardī died in the year 630 AH.
