In this year, the ruler of the Maghrib, ʿAbd al-Muʾmin b. ʿAlī al-Tūmartī, passed away. After his death, his son Yūsuf succeeded him. He transported his father's body to Marrakesh as if he were ill. When he arrived in Marrakesh, he announced his father's death. The people offered him their condolences and, after his father, pledged allegiance to his rule and bestowed upon him the title Amīr al-Muʾminīn (Commander of the Faithful).

ʿAbd al-Muʾmin was an intelligent, prudent, courageous, generous person who showed respect for the sharia (sharia, the sacred law). In his time, those who did not persist in prayer were executed. Before and during the call to prayer, the people would fill the mosques. There would be overcrowding. He himself would perform the prayer with utmost humility and tranquility, but he would shed much blood even for minor offenses. His affair is left to Allah. Allah will judge him as He wills.

In this year, among the Oghuz, Sayf al-Dīn Muḥammad b. ʿAlāʾ al-Dīn was killed. The Oghuz had killed him. He was a just person.

In this year, the Crusaders launched a raid against Nūr al-Dīn. They caught his soldiers by surprise. The Muslims suffered a defeat. As they fled, they could not even look back at each other. Nūr al-Dīn immediately sprang up and mounted his horse. There was a binding on his foot. A Kurd dismounted and cut the binding on Nūr al-Dīn's foot. Thus, Nūr al-Dīn was able to move and was saved. However, the Crusaders caught that Kurd and killed him. May Allah have mercy on him. But Nūr al-Dīn showed favor to his family and children. He never forgot this act of kindness.

In this year, the caliph ordered the expulsion of the Banū Asad tribe from Ḥilla. He also had those who remained in Ḥilla killed. For they had caused corruption and, by corresponding with Sultan Muḥammadshāh, had encouraged him to besiege the city of Baghdad. By the caliph's order, 4,000 people from the Banū Asad tribe were killed. The remainder left Ḥilla. The caliph's deputies took possession of the city of Ḥilla.

In this year, the great amir Barghūsh led the people in the pilgrimage (ḥajj).
