On the 5th of the month of Rabīʿ al-Awwal of this year, on a Tuesday, al-Muʿtaḍid consummated his marriage with his wife Qatr al-Nadā, the daughter of Khumārawayh. Qatr al-Nadā had come to Baghdad together with her uncle and Ibn al-Jassās. At that time, the caliph al-Muʿtaḍid was not in Baghdad. He later arrived and consummated the marriage with her. That day was a remarkable day; due to the size of the crowd, people were prohibited from passing through the streets.

In this year, al-Muʿtaḍid forbade the people, who had previously been permitted to engage in behaviors resembling those of the Magians, such as lighting fires and pouring water on the festival of Nowruz, from such practices. He also forbade the giving of gifts from farmers to those who did not work on that day, and postponed this practice to the 11th of June. For this reason, the 11th of June was called "al-Muʿtaḍid's Nowruz." This decision was communicated to all regions by letter.

In the month of Dhu al-Ḥijja of this year, Ibrāhīm b. Aḥmad al-Māzarāʾī came from Damascus to Baghdad. He informed the caliph that Khumārawayh had been murdered in his bed by his servants, and that his son Hanash had been installed in his place, but then he too was killed and his house plundered. After Hanash, Khumārawayh's other son Hārūn was installed, and Hārūn pledged to give the caliph 1,500,000 dinars each year. Al-Muʿtaḍid confirmed this.

When al-Muktafī assumed the caliphate, he deposed Hārūn and appointed Muḥammad b. Sulaymān al-Wāthiqī in his place. He liquidated the property of the Tulunids. This marked the end of their era.

This year, Lüʾlüʾ, the slave of Aḥmad b. Ṭūlūn, was released from prison. Once the wealthiest, most honorable, and most respected of people, he returned to Egypt in a state of great poverty, having been robbed and humiliated.

In this year, the people performed the pilgrimage (ḥajj) under the leadership of the same amīr of ḥajj as in previous years.

In this year, the famous figure Aḥmad b. Dāwūd Abū Ḥanīfa al-Dīnawarī passed away. He was a scholar of lexicography and the author of the work "Kitāb al-Nabāt."

In this year, Ismāʿīl b. Isḥāq also passed away.
