ʿUthmān b. Sahl b. Ahd b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Abī Dulayf al-ʿIjlī. He was from the tribe of Saʿd. He was among those who traveled to hot countries for the purpose of collecting ḥadīth. Then he resided for a while in Baghdad, where he engaged in ḥadīth narration. al-Ḥātib al-Baghdādī transmitted from him and stated that he was a trustworthy person. Husayn b. ʿUthmān migrated to Mecca in the latter part of his life. He lived there until he passed away in the month of Shawwāl of that year.
