Muhyiddin b. Abdullah b. Rashiduddin ʿAbd al-Ẓāhir b. Nashwan b. ʿAbd al-Ẓāhir b. ʿAli b. Nasid al-Saʿidi. He served as a secretary of correspondence (inshāʾ) in Egypt, and in this position he surpassed the scholars (ʿulamāʾ) of his time and left his contemporaries behind. He is the father of Ṣāḥib Fathuddin Nadim; as we mentioned on previous pages, Ṣāḥib Fathuddin died before his father. Ibn ʿAbd al-Ẓāhir had various classified works. One of these was a book he wrote about the life of al-Malik al-Ẓāhir. He was a person of chivalrous character (muruwwa). He possessed a lofty disposition and noble virtues. This venerable man died on the fourth day of the month of Rajab, having surpassed seventy years of age. He was buried in the mausoleum (turbah) he had built in Cairo.
