Najm al-Dīn Abū ʿAbdillāh Muḥammad ibn ʿUkayl ibn Abī al-Ḥasan ibn ʿUkālī al-Bālisī al-Shāfiʿī! He wrote a commentary on the work entitled Tanbīh. He was born in the year 660 AH. He studied ḥadīth. He pursued jurisprudence (fiqh) and other sciences. He excelled in fiqh. He continued with Ibn Daqīq al-ʿĪd. He served as his judge deputy. He taught at the Maġribiyya and Ṭaybarsiyya madrasas as well as at the Mosque of Egypt. He became renowned for his virtue, piety, and continued pursuit of knowledge. He passed away on the night of Thursday, the fourteenth of Muḥarram of that year and was buried in the Qurāfa Cemetery. His funeral was attended by a large crowd. May Allah have mercy on him.
