Isfahdost b. Muḥammad b. Ḥasan Abū Manṣūr ad-Daylamī. He was a poet. He encountered Abū ʿAbdillāh b. Ḥajjāj, ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Nabat, and other poets. He was a Shīʿī but later repented. Regarding his belief on this matter, he composed the following qaṣīda:
“When asked what my ʿitqād (creed) is, I say: I follow the madhhab of the good and the righteous. After Muḥammad (ṣallā llāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam), the best of people,
Is his sincere friend and companion in the cave, I say.
The three after him are the best of creation.
They are very noble and precious people.
They are pure lords.
This is my ʿitqād.
By this, I hope to be freed and saved from the torment of Hell.”
