Ismāʿīl b. Aḥmad b. ʿAbdullāh Abū ʿAbdurraḥmān al-Dārīr al-Ḥayrī. He is from Nisābūr. He is among the foremost virtuous, intelligent, trustworthy, and reliable individuals. In the year 423 AH, he came to Baghdad to perform the ḥajj. The preacher recited the entire Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī in three sessions, narrating from al-Kashmayhanī and al-Farbarī’s ṭarīqa through al-Bukhārī. Ismāʿīl b. Aḥmad passed away this same year, having surpassed ninety years of age.
