Qāḍī al-Qudāt Jamāl al-Dīn al-Ṣāliḥī

His lineage is as follows: Jamāl al-Dīn Abū al-Mahāsin Yūsuf b. Ibrāhīm b. Jumla b. Muslim b. Ḥummām b. Ḥusayn b. Yūsuf al-Ṣāliḥī. He belonged to the Shāfiʿī madhhab. His father was from Mahajjal. He passed away on the fourteenth of Dhū al-Ḥijja, on a Thursday afternoon, at the Madrasa of Sūriyya, and after the funeral prayer, he was buried in the Qasyūn Cemetery. He was born at the beginning of the year 682 AH, had heard ḥadīth from Ibn Bukhārī and others, and transmitted ḥadīth. He was virtuous and a scholar advanced in many sciences. He engaged in knowledge, acquired information, issued fatwā, served as a muʿīd (teaching assistant) and mudarris (teacher). He possessed many virtues. He was investigative and had obtained beneficial knowledge. He was of high aspiration and held in great respect. He was affectionate and performed acts of ihsān (spiritual excellence). He fulfilled the rights of their owners. In Dimashq, he served as a qāḍī (judge) both by proxy and in his own right. He taught in many madrasas. He died while serving as the mudarris of the Shāmiyyat al-Barrāniyya Madrasa. Many people from the notable class attended the funeral ceremony. May Allah have mercy on him.
