Qāḍī al-Qudāt Kemaleddīn Abū'l-Fath ʿUmar ibn Bandar ibn ʿUmar ibn ʿAlī. He was from Tiflis. He belonged to the Shāfiʿī madhhab. He was born in the year 601 AH in Tiflis. He was a virtuous scholar and an expert in uṣūl (principles) and munāẓara (dialectics). He served as a deputy qāḍī (judge) for a time. Later, during the time of Hülegü, he held this office in an official capacity. He was a chaste and honorable person. Although he had a large family and little wealth, he did not seek any official position or teaching post. When Hülegü's rule ended, some people became angry with him. Afterwards, he was compelled to go to Cairo, and he went. There he began to reside and imparted beneficial knowledge to people. Finally, he passed away in the month of Rabīʿ al-Awwal of that year in Cairo and was buried in the Small Qarāfa cemetery.
