He was a righteous elder. According to reports, he was among the Companions (ṣaḥāba). He participated in the Battle of Yarmūk. As the commander of a military unit consisting of 6,000 men, he went to the Byzantine territories. He had an aunt named ʿAliya; when Maysara went to the Byzantine lands, he killed many people there. He took some soldiers captive and obtained a certain amount of spoils of war. This event took place in the twentieth year after the Hijra. He narrated from Abū ʿUbayda. Eshlem, the freedman of ʿUmar, also narrated from him. Ibn al-Athīr did not mention Maysara in his work "al-Ghāba."
