Taceddin ʿAbd al-Wahhab b. Ḥalaf b. Bidār b. Bintü'l-Eʿazz. He belonged to the Shāfiʿī madhhab. He was a pious, chaste, and virtuous person. In his works on the path of Allah, he did not care about the reproaches of those who blamed him. He did not accept the requests of those who entered to seek pardon for guilty persons. The chief qādīship of the entire land of Misr, the oratory, the muḥtasibship, the shaykh al-shuyūkh-ship, the ministry of the army, the Shāfiʿī professorship, the teaching position at the Ṣāliḥiyya madrasa, and the mosque imamate had all been entrusted to him. He held fifteen offices in total. Occasionally, he also served as a vizier. The sultan showed him respect. Vizier Ibn Ḥannā feared him greatly. Vizier Ibn Ḥannā tried very hard to bring him into disfavor with the sultan but failed. He wanted Qadi Taceddin to come to his house. For this reason, one day he feigned illness. Qadi Taceddin went to visit him. Ibn Ḥannā rose and walked to the middle of the house to greet him. Seeing this, Qadi Taceddin said to him, "We came to visit you because you were ill, but you are perfectly healthy. Assalāmu ʿalaykum," and returned without sitting down beside him.
Chief Qadi Taceddin was born in the year 604 AH, was appointed to the qādīship after Taqiyy al-Dīn b. Razīn, and died in this year.
