Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh b. Ibrāhīm b. ʿAbdurabbih b. Mūsā Abū Bakr al-Shāfiʿī. He was born in the year 260 AH in Jibalan. He heard many ḥadīths.
He lived in Baghdad. He was a sīka (trustworthy), steadfast, and a ḥadīth scholar who narrated many reports; Dāraquṭnī and other ḥadīth memorizers took lessons from him. When the Daylamites explicitly forbade the narration of the virtues of the ṣaḥāba (the Companions), he opposed them and recited ḥadīths about the virtues of the ṣaḥāba in the mosque of Manṣūr city. Similarly, in the Bāb al-Shānī Mosque, he spoke about the virtues of the ṣaḥāba. He passed away at the age of ninety-four in that year. May Allah have mercy on him.
