Muhammad b. Ahmed b. Yahya Abu Abdillah al-ʿUthmānī al-Dibāqī. He was known in Baghdad by the epithet al-Maqdisī. In creed, he belonged to the Ashʿarī school. He preached to people in Baghdad. Ibn al-Jawzī said: "I heard that he recited the following poem in his own assembly":
"Let your eyes shed tears in vain, Mourning has become rightful for me. The sins committed do not leave the heart sound. I have worn out my ruh (spirit), exhausted it, refrained from sins. Old age clearly announces that our death is near. Whenever I say that the wound of my qalb (heart) has healed, My heart is wounded again because of sins. The salvation and blessing of the servant,
Only become possible at the moment he is safe and at ease in the field of resurrection (ḥashr)."
