His kunya (honorific), is Abū ʿUbaydullāh. He was from Basra, and later went to settle in Baghdad. There, he listened to hadith from ʿUbaydullāh b. Muʿādh al-Anbarī, Bishr b. Muʿādh al-Iqdī, and others. Among the hadith he transmitted are also rare (gharīb) and rejected (munkar) hadith. He passed away in the month of Shawwāl of this year.
