Muhammad b. Jaʿfar b. Muhammad b. Zakariyāʾ Abū Bakr al-Warrāq. He bore the epithet Gunder. He was a person who traveled to various lands for the sake of knowledge and quickness of mind. He heard many ḥadīth in the lands of Persia and Khurāsān. He listened to and transmitted ḥadīth from Bāghandī, Ibn Saʿīd, Ibn Durayd, and others. The ḥāfiẓ Abū Nuʿaym al-Isfahānī also transmitted ḥadīth from him. He was a trustworthy ḥāfiẓ of ḥadīth.
