He became famous by the nickname Cehremi. al-Ḥātib al-Baġdādī said: "He is among the poets from whom we have heard poetry when we met them. He spoke beautifully. One of his poems is as follows:

“Woe to the state of my qalb (heart) from his turning here and there

We will suffer torment with him until eternity.

They said: You endured and concealed your love for him

If I had patience, I would have forgiven him

I went mad in this state but he did not care for me.

I cannot bear his disappearance from sight.

His being pleased and content is enough for me as life

His anger and estrangement is death for me.”
