His kunyah (teknonym) was Abū ʿAmr. He was an ascetic person. He heard many ḥadīths. For this purpose, he traveled to distant lands. Great ḥadīth memorizers also heard ḥadīths from him.
He was a poor person content with little. He would lay bricks for the graves of the poor. He would satisfy his hunger with a piece of bread, a radish, or an onion. He spent the entire night performing prayer. He passed away at the age of ninety-five in the month of Jamāzī al-ākhir of this year.
