His patronymic was Abū'l-Ḥasan al-Sabīʿ. He bore the epithet Garsü'n-Nimet. He gave much charity and was known for his benevolence. He wrote a supplement (zeyl) to the history of his father. His father, too, had written a supplement to the work of Thābit b.
Thābit b. Sinān had written a supplement to the history of Ibn Jarīr.
Muhammad b. Hilal established a center of learning in Baghdad and endowed four thousand dinars to it. These books pertained to various sciences. When he died, he left behind a sum of money. He was buried in Mashhad-i ʿAlī.
Hibetullah b. ʿAlī
Hibetullah b. ʿAlī b. Muḥammad b. Aḥmad b. Mujalla Abū Nāṣir. He compiled sermons and exhortations. He listened to hadith from several hadith scholars. He passed away at a young age before reaching the age of transmission (of hadith).
