Muḥammad b. Ismāʾīl Abū ʿAbdillāh al-Maghribī. He went on pilgrimage on foot 97 times. Even in the dark night, he would walk barefoot as if it were daytime. Those who set out on the road would follow him and go after him. He would guide them on the way. He said: "For many years, I have never seen darkness." Although he walked a lot on foot, his feet were like those of a well-cared-for bride. He had beneficial and beautiful words. When he died, he bequeathed to be buried next to his shaykh ʿAlī b. Rizī. Both of them are on Mount Ṭūr.
Abū Nuʿaym said: "Abū ʿAbdillāh al-Maghribī was among those who lived a long life. He died at the age of 120. His grave is next to the grave of his master ʿAlī b. Rizī on Mount Ṭūr Sīnā."
Abū ʿAbdillāh Muḥammad b. Ismāʾīl said:
"The most virtuous of deeds is to keep endowments alive."
"The poor is the one who has no support in the universe and does not resort to any foundation. Except for the one who seeks help from Him and who made him poor to seek help from Him. Indeed, Allah reproaches him by making him dependent on Himself."
"The lowest of people is the one who flatters the rich and appears humble to him. The highest of people is the one who shows humility to a poor person or preserves his respect for him."
