Muhammed b. Sa'd b. Nebehan. His kunyah was Abū ʿAlī. He served as a scribe. He listened to and transmitted ḥadīth. He lived for one hundred years. Before his death, a change occurred in his condition. He composed beautiful poetry. For example, the following qaṣīda is attributed to him:
“There is a provision that Allah has decreed for me. Yes, and there is also a provision that I desire.
After obtaining the provision that He has decreed for me, I cannot go beyond it.
The noble people with whom I was present said in an assembly: “Ibn Nebehan has returned to his Lord. May Allah have mercy on him and on us.”
