The lineage of this individual is as follows: Nuʿaymān b. ʿAmr b. Rifāʿa b. Ḥarr. He participated in the Battle of Badr and subsequent expeditions. It is related that, having been apprehended for drinking wine, he was brought before the Messenger of God (peace be upon him). Someone said about him, "May Allah curse this man—how often he is brought here because of drinking!" Upon hearing this, the Messenger of God (peace be upon him) admonished the one who spoke thus: "Do not curse him, for he loves Allah and His Messenger."
