Sāḥib Muḥyiddīn b. Nahḥās Abū ʿAbdullāh Muḥammad b. Badr al-Dīn Yaʿqūb b. Ibrāhīm b. ʿAbdullāh b. Ṭāriq b. Sālim b. Nahḥās al-Asadī. He was from Ḥalab. He belonged to the Ḥanafī madhhab. He was born in 614 AH in Ḥalab. He pursued knowledge and advanced in it. He listened to ḥadīth. For a time, he resided in Dimashq. He taught in many of its great madrasas. For example, he was a mudarris (teacher) at the Zāhiriyya and Rayḥāniyya madrasas. He was appointed as the qāḍī (judge) of Ḥalab. He served as a wazīr (minister) in Dimashq. He held positions such as ḥāzin nazīr (treasury minister), dīwān nazīr (council minister), and awqāf nazīr (endowments minister). He was always respected and held high offices. He was known for his virtue and for the quality of delivering the truth to its rightful owner in disputations. He loved ḥadīth and ḥadīth scholars and followed the path of the salaf. He loved Shaykh ʿAbd al-Qādir and his circle. At the end of the month of Dhū al-Ḥijja of that year, on a Monday evening, he passed away in his garden in Mizzah, having exceeded eighty years of age. On the first day of the year 696 AH, a Tuesday, he was buried in the cemetery of Mizzah. The funeral ceremony was attended by the deputy of the sultan and the qāḍīs.
