Hutluba b. ʿAbdillāh. A great emir. He was a mujahid (holy warrior) who kept watch defending the Muslims on the frontiers. He was a slave of Shirkis. After Shirkis, he served as deputy together with his son in Tenin and in the fortresses of those regions. He gave much charity. He was buried beneath the Shirkis domes together with his master. These places he had built himself after his master. He was a righteous person. He spoke little and fought much. For years he served as a murābiṭ (frontier guardian) in the fortresses. He continued the duty of qalbant (fortress warden). May the Exalted Allah have mercy on him. May He forgive him by His grace and karāma (saintly favor).
