His father was the qāḍī (judge) of Ḥarrān. He himself was the nāẓir (administrator) of the awqāf (endowments) in Dimashq. He passed away on the night of Wednesday, the twenty-first of Rabīʿ al-Awwal. He was buried in the Qāsyūn Cemetery. Imam al-Dīn al-Shīrāzī was appointed in his place.
