Sharaf al-Dawla b. ʿAdūd al-Dawla b. Rukn al-Dawla b. Buwayh al-Daylamī. After his father, he took control of Baghdad. He loved charity and detested arrogance. He ordered that heavy monetary penalties not be imposed on people. He contracted the disease of istiṣqāʾ (dropsy), and this illness progressed. Finally, on the night of Friday, the 2nd of Jumādā al-Ākhirah of that year, having reached the age of twenty-nine years and five months, he passed away. He ruled for two years and eight months. His coffin was taken to his father's tomb in the Mashhad of ʿAlī. Throughout all these, there was Shiʿism and Rafḍīsm present.
