Shaykh Imam al-Mulāme al-Adīb Tāj al-Dīn Abū's-Sanā Maḥmūd ibn ʿAbīd ibn Ḥusayn ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī al-Tarūʿmī al-Sarḥadī. He belonged to the Ḥanafī madhhab. He was renowned in the sciences of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and literature. He was known for his righteousness, purification of the nafs (the lower self), and moral excellence. He was born in the year 578 AH. He listened to ḥadīth and transmitted them. He passed away in the month of Rabīʿ al-Ākhir of that year. He was buried in the Sufī cemetery. At the time of his death, he was ninety-six years old. May Allah have mercy on him.
