Shaykh Takiyyuddīn Ibn Saʿīgh

The Shaykh was a pious, long-lived great man. He was a qurrāʾ (Qur'an reciter) and Egyptian. He belonged to the Shāfiʿī madhhab (legal school). He was among the last surviving scholars of qirāʾāt (Qur'anic readings). His kunyah was Abū ʿAbdillāh, and his lineage is as follows: Muḥammad b. Aḥmad b. ʿAbdulḥalīk b. ʿAlī b. Sālim b. Makkī. He passed away at the age of eighty-nine in the month of Ṣafar this year. He was buried in the Qurāfah Cemetery. His funeral was attended by a large crowd. More than one person studied the science of qirāʾāt from him. He was among those whose life was long and whose deeds were good.
