Sayyid Sharif Zayn al-Din Abu ʿAlī Ḥasan b. Muḥammad b. ʿAdnān al-Ḥusaynī. Nakīb al-Ashrāf (chief of the descendants of the Prophet). He was a virtuous, highly learned person, eloquent, and skilled in kalām (Islamic theology). He was knowledgeable in the path of the Muʿtazilites and examined the issues of the Imāmīya madhhab (school). He engaged in debates. Shortly before his death, he began serving as the superintendent of the mosque and the Efrem divan. He died at the age of fifty-five on the fifth of Dhū al-Qaʿda. He was buried in the family cemetery in Bab al-Ṣaghīr.
