Al-Jawz is the name of a village affiliated with Duceyl. Süleym was an ʿābid (devout worshipper) and zahid (ascetic). It is related that he lived for a long time by eating one dried grape daily. He listened to ḥadīth and had ḥadīth recited to him. He died in this year. May Allah have mercy on him.

His kunyah is Abū Aḥmad. He is from Kairouan. He is a Mālikī faqīh (jurist). He died in Baghdad. He was buried in the Bāb al-Ḥarb cemetery. The Most High Allah, free from deficiencies, knows best the truth.
