On the twenty-fourth of Dhu al-Qi'dah in this year, on Friday, Emir Shams al-Din Sungur al-Ashqar, after performing the ʿAṣr prayer, left the Dar al-Saʿadah. A group of ʿumara (nobles) and soldiers were walking on foot ahead of him. Thus, he proceeded towards the fortress gate at one end of the city. He stormed and entered the fortress. He summoned the emirs before him. They pledged bayʿah (allegiance) to his sultanate, and he was given the epithet Malik al-Kāmil. He began to reside in the fortress. This matter was announced in Damascus through town criers. When Saturday came, he invited the qāḍīs (judges), ʿulamāʾ (scholars), notables, and leading figures of the city to the Abu Darda Mosque within the fortress. He called them to pledge bayʿah to recognize his sultanate. They gave their bayʿah. Other emirs and soldiers also presented their bayʿah. After this, Malik al-Kāmil sent soldiers to Gaza to protect the borders and collect the revenues. Malik Manṣūr also sent soldiers to Šubbak. His deputies took control of Šubbak. Najm al-Dīn Ḥizr did not resist them.
In this year, the four segments of the Nasir dome on the western side of the Damascus Mosque were renovated.
In this year, Fath al-Dīn b. Kayserānī was dismissed from the vizierate in Damascus. In his place, Taqī al-Dīn b. Tawbah al-Tikrītī was appointed.
