According to al-Wāqidī, they were sixteen people, consisting of both Christians and Muslims. The Christians wore golden crosses around their necks. They were hosted at the house of Ramla bint Ḥārith. The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) shook hands with the Christians on the condition that they would not convert their children to Christianity. He gave gifts to the Muslims in the delegation.
