Takiyyüddīn ʿUmar b. Wazīr Shams al-Dīn Muḥammad b. ʿUthmān b. Salʿus. When his father was killed under torture, he was a small child. He grew up among the servants. Later, the sultan summoned him and appointed him to the ministry of the Egyptian divans. One day, after performing his duties, he appeared before the sultan on a Thursday. At that time, he became ill and was taken home by being placed in an inahfe (a type of litter). He passed away on the morning of Saturday, the twenty-sixth of the month of Dhu al-Qaʿda. His funeral prayer was performed at the ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ Mosque. He was buried in the Qurāfa Cemetery beside his father. The funeral ceremony was magnificent.
